Localhost previews
Open dev servers running on your machine at localhost on your Mac.
Start a dev server on your machine and open it on your Mac at the same address. The desktop app
forwards every port your machine listens on to localhost on your Mac, with nothing to set up.
npm run dev
# ➜ Local: http://localhost:5173/Open http://localhost:5173 in your Mac's browser and you're looking at your machine.
Ports and sites
Forwarded ports are listed at the foot of the sidebar, under Localhost ports: cloud → local.
Each row pairs the port on your machine with the port on your Mac, such as 5173 → 5173. If a
port is already taken on your Mac, Cube picks another one and the row shows it: 5173 → 5174.
- Sites, servers that answer with a web page, are listed first, by page title. Each has two buttons: Open in browser and Open in Cube, which opens it in a pane.
- Show N other ports reveals the rest, such as databases and APIs. Click one to open it in your browser.
Forwarded ports are reachable from your Mac only, not from other devices on your network.
Previews in the sidebar
Each site also appears in the sidebar, next to the work it came from. Right-click it to Open in browser, Copy URL, Rename or Hide from sidebar.
When the server stops, the preview shows Server stopped. If it isn't back within 10 seconds, it leaves the sidebar.
A server that doesn't show up
Print its address in a terminal on the machine, and Cube picks it up:
echo http://localhost:3000Pausing
Use Pause port forwarding when you want localhost to mean your Mac's own servers again. Cube
remembers the choice between launches.
On the web and phone
app.cube.computer lists your sites but can't open them. They show Needs the desktop app.
